I hope you are all staying warm (if you’re an East Coaster). I hope the wine is flowing and your boo is close by.

If you’re in need of a refresh and have some time to stop by Sephora this weekend, pick up some travel size overnight sleep masks.

At just $4 a mask with approximately 3-4 uses a package, it’s a great travel buddy or night time spa treatment for your face. In the morning, your skin feels fresh and rejuvenated.

The mask itself comes in a small container with a fold back lid. After your first use, just reseal the lid with cling wrap. Yes, it’s a little annoying, but it’s only $4 so that was easy to get over.

Now your face is fresh and feeling fancy. You can go downstairs and make your signif the breakfast sandwich of champions.

Take a piece of bread of your choice and cut a small circle in the middle and lightly butter both sides of the bread.

After you heat a slightly greased pan, place the pieces of bread in the pan. Crack an egg into each one of the circles. Let cook for 3 minutes.

On one slice, add sliced avocado and sliced goat cheese.

Cover and cook for 3 minutes. Flip over one more time just to get some extra melting going on for the goat cheese.

Plate and enjoy. The egg yolk will be runny and in my opinion, you can never go wrong with avocado and/or goat cheese. #amIright

I hope your Valentine’s Day is filled with snuggling. Either with your boo or with a nice bottle of vino.

Friday Favorites

I’m not feeling so hot today so this Friday my favorites are all about the things that make me feel good…

sweater weather

These sweater leggings from the Gap. Check in store for more colors. I got one pair for Christmas and I loved them so much that I went to the store for another pair. They are everything when you’re sick.

Those Lemon cozy slipper socks (similar) that need no description. They’re that good.

And then my raw honey/cinnamon hot water concoction that has kept me going during the work day. Look at all the benefits of raw honey and cinnamon. Together they make magic happen. #amIright

I hope your Friday night looks nothing like mine; Advil PM and bed.

Bringing a few of my favorite things from 2015 into the new year. Perfect to browse if you are like me and could spend hours in Ulta. #amIright

What's in my bag

So…what’s in my bag?

Full bag of goodies

They’re Real! Tinted Lash Primer

They are real

I wear this alone and it really does give my lashes a natural and feathery look. Just like it describes. It also has magic potion ( Provitamin B5) to condition. My lashes feel soft and primed.

Laura Mercier Eye Shadow

Laura Mercier Eye Shadow

If Laura Mercier is wrong, I don’t want to be right. My colour is a barely there pink, Vanilla Nuts, and it is the only eye shadow that doesn’t crease by the middle or end of day. It’s creamy and soft and stays for hours.

Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift

Trish McEvoy

I had a gift card to Nordie’s once and before I knew it I made my way over to beauty. In 5 minutes, my hands were covered in all different eye shadow colors, lines of eye liner colors, and a glittery blush color. And then I found this. This eye lift goes under my eye in a downward facing triangle and IT WORKS. I felt like I just went under the knife, it was that good. Just call me the illusionist. It’s a little on the $$ side but if you are looking to splurge in the new year, you will not be disappointed.

My ‘never fails me’ Bobbi Brown blush and eyeliner gel

Bobbi Brown

I LOVE Bobbi Brown. Love her. And these two products have yet to disappoint me. This blush color gives me a tint of pink and for the eyeliner, I just dab under my lash line on my top lid to make it appear that my eyelashes are full of color and life. By lining under the base of my lashes, it doesn’t look like I have eye liner on which I think is the best when I want to add pops of color elsewhere (please see vampy lip color below).

Porefessional Magic by benefit

I have oily skin, especially after I apply my SPF face cream in the morning, so I need a fix. This product ROCKS and it keeps me looking shine free for most of the morning and a little into the afternoon. I keep it with me if I’m going ‘day to night’ somewhere. WIN. OH and the best part…this one container will last you a whole year.

Last, but not least…

Urban Decay’s Matte After Dark Lipstick

Urban Decay Lip

This is the only product that I didn’t have for long in 2015. And by long I mean 24 hours. I wanted to become a little less predictable in 2016 and I think this lipstick will help do the trick. I think it says “girl loves taking risks and good conversation.” Things I wouldn’t mind having in 2016.

new year new me

So cheers to some trusty products and a new year. And on that note…may your coffee be as strong as your brow game.

P.S. Follow me on instagram!

Life is too short. Wear sequins.

Happy New Year!

It only feels natural that my first blog post of the new year should include sequins; J.Crew inspired.

jcrew sequin pants

I loved these J.Crew sequin pants but they were all out of my size. So I thought to myself “you’re a handy gal, you can do this.” SO, without further ado, here is how I turned my reqular old pants into FANCY pants…

Go to Joann Fabrics and buy two rolls of stretch sequin ribbon

BR pants

Take an old pair of ‘drapey’ pants like these above

sequin your pants

Turn the pants on their side. Lay flat. Curl the edge of the sequin ribbon 1/4 inch and pin with quilt pin directly onto the pants.

Continue to pin the sequin ribbon all the way down until you get to the bottom seam. Curl the edge of the sequin ribbon 1/4 inch and pin with quilt pin.

I hand sewed from the top to bottom. I started with a straight line across to secure the ribbon and then I continued down the pant leg in a zig zag pattern. I finished by sewing a straight line at the bottom. The trick is to not sew through the sequins themselves.

Repeat the same instructions on the other pant leg.

And then spend your Saturday night drinking champagne, dancing on tables, and taking sequins wherever you go…

sequins and pants and love

Or grabbing brunch on Sunday with your best gals in a chambray shirt and loafers.

Or sprinkling date night with a low cut silk top and a kitten heel and a leather jacket.

Possibilities are endless!

I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve. Cheers to a New Year with new adventures and new moments to enjoy.

My Christmas Decor

My Christmas Décor Inspiration

Because even though it doesn’t feel like winter outside, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas inside…

Gold wreath • Red throw pillow • Dreamy rose gold candle holder

Cable knit vase • Greenery • Candles

And for another holiday matter…

I need help! I am attending a plaid party. What necklace should I wear?

Flannel shirt  • Shorts (similar) • Booties • Tights

How do you style your Christmas?

New York, you handsome devil

Keep looking up. That’s the secret of life. ~ Snoopy

My mom, sister and I head into New York City every year around Christmas time to winter village hop and eat/drink ourselves silly.

Risotteria’s first for the best gluten free food you’ve ever tasted. Seriously, we haven’t met a meal here we haven’t loved/drooled/made us wish we lived closer.

*olive tampenade with goat cheese and arugula pizza*

Follow it up with Gelato down the street at GROM. 100% natural “like it used to be made.” This will also make you wish you lived closer.

*mango and stracciatella*

And then catch glances at all the glam…

Finally, we get home around midnight full and happy.

I didn’t hit the sheets before I exfoliated with a super easy, everything you can find in the grocery store, scrub for my face.

What you will need:

2 tbsp almond flour

4 tbsp of oat flour

1 tbsp of sea salt

2 drops of lavender oil

To use:

Put half a tablespoon of this mix into your hand and add a couple drops of water. Rub your hands together to make a paste. In circulur motions, gently rub onto your skin. Your skin will feel soft and silky after you wash it off with warm water and then a splash of cold water. Pat dry.

I washed NYC off my face but not from my soul.

Life In The Travel Lane : Boca

Seas the day!

FullSizeRender (66)

I’ll look back on this and smile because it was life and I decided to live it.

I recently came back from a quick #besties getaway to Boca and I wanted to share all of the adventures. Boca is a wanderful place!

And trying to make my half-up, half-down top knot game ON POINT. #frizzyhairdontcare

Crushing this game called Bocce.

And loving this treat called Mandel Bread. #justcallbestiesGrandmaGiada

And enjoying unlimited mimosas and yummy treats at City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill. P.S. Figs in salad is a game changer.

And spending hours in Restoration Hardware (adult and baby) which I can only describe as a vortex that sucks you in and holds you tight and never wants to let you go. And if you’re anything like us, you stay in for 2 hours, leave, and then come back to buy this stellar faux fur Russan Ushanka hat. Be excited that your besties bought them too and now you can match during real winter activities.

Because eventually we would be heading back to the East Coast where it wasn’t #somewheresunnyand85

DO NOT be surprised if while you’re still in RH you DO see their faux fur slippers at every corner and try them on at every corner in hopes of finding something you hate about them so you don’t think about them when you leave. #fail

Next, stopped in Anthropolgie and fell in love with their candle display game…

And then we VOLUNTARILY stayed to enjoy the faux snow fall that City Place puts on all winter long.

FullSizeRender (61)

Palm trees and twinkly lights and snow fall pair SO well together. #amIright #beautifulviews

DO NOT be surprised if there is a stage in the center of City Place and they invite kids everyone up on stage to whip and nae nae.

IT WAS A WEEKEND OF… floral crowns, tailgating, and front row lawn seats for Drake White and Zac Brown Band.

DO NOT be surprised if your Kate Spade koozies and floral crowns make you giddy, if you drool over shaved ice from Paradise Cups, and definitely DO NOT be surprised if you realize that getting into the concert right when the gates open with your lawn chairs is the ONLY way to enjoy lawn seats. #gamechanger #amIright #frontrowstatus

With a little Monday Funday…

And a lot of memories in our mind and on our shared drive…

To get us through the winter. I’ll drink to that. #amIright

While it was a wanderful weekend for us, unfortunately not everyone was sharing the same joy. You never know what is going to happen in life. I am thankful and in awe of those that did and do serve (in any way, shape, or form) to protect and help others in need.

Chances not taken…

I’ve been obsessed with Barre method for almost seven years now! Ever since I walked into the Physique 57 Spring Street location back in 2008 and could BARREly (sorry, barre humor) walk home, I knew I was hooked. I chose not to take a chance on becoming a Pilates teacher this year for several reasons but it doesn’t mean that it isn’t something I dream about for later on in my life. Life is so short and it’s too short to not do what you love. If I look back on my life and I did not become a Pilates teacher and RULE at making great playlists for my Barre classes, I will regret it. And I want to live a no regrets life policy. #barrehairdontcare #goingtomakeithappen
